First Quarter 2002 Meeting
On March 9, 2002, Lair No. 1 met in the upper room of Max's Allegheny Tavern to hear a presentation by Woody Cunningham, who was challenged to find the real story behind the "first matching grant" proposed by Abraham Lincoln to his step-brother, John Davis Johnston, encouraging him to "go to work is the only cure for your disease." Only one son-in-law to capitalize on the Lincoln legacy by marketing "Lincoln's walking sticks" carved from fencing on property inherited after the assassination.
Woody then went on to read a number of presidential rejection requests. If they were never actually written, they should have been.
